LuxYours’ chemical surface smoothing for polyamides and many TPU grades has been tested and found compliant with EU 10/2011.
LuxYours uses the proprietary solvent LuxFlux PA for its Iterative Flux Smoothing (IFS) processes. Now, tests have been carried out on polyamide parts smoothed with LuxFlux PA to determine their suitability for items that come into contact with food.
As a result of this investigation, the investigating company certified the conformity with:
1.) Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 of 27 October 2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, and the
2) the German Food and Feed Code (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch, LFGB) in the version of 15 September 2021 and the
3) Commission Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 of 14 January 2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
The smoothing agent LuxFlux PA can therefore be safely used for the chemical smoothing of 3D printed components with the IFS process. The smoothed 3D printed components may then be in direct contact with all types of food as far as the influence of the smoothing agent is concerned.
